I am still amazed today how many businesses and entrepreneurs are making more work for themselves, from prospect outreach to client nurturing and service/product on-boarding.
I hear about emails that are manually being sent out from gmail accounts, orders being handled manually and even payment processing being done by sending over a link via email.
Since we are in the 21st century, more and more applications, services, programs and systems are based on technology that have been designed for ease of use and to make our jobs as business owners easier.
Many of these systems, like website platforms, email service providers, payment processing systems, social media management tools and others have at least some basic mechanism that allows a simple integration and to allow their services to work with others.
If you haven’t already, you really should be taking advantage of system integrations.
For example, if you have a website look for ways to capture an email address with a form on your website and puts them into an automated email sequence to nurture and build a relationship with your prospects.
If you offer products and services on your website, find ways to make it easier for your customer to click a button, place the order, make a payment and have the order automatically send them the product, i.e. ebook, online course or even fulfill a physical product.
When researching new products and services to invest in for your business, make sure you also look to see if they can integrate with some of the existing products you already have in order to have a more cohesive and systematic process designed for your business.
Putting these types of systems in places allows you to step out of the trenches of working IN your business and allows you the breathing room to work ON your business.
Another way to look at it is if you’re working in your business, you’re really a freelancer.
But if you’re working on your business, you’re a business person.
Which would you rather be?
I know which one I would rather focus my time on.
Stop focusing on trying to chop down the tree that’s in front of you but be the person that stands on the mountain top so you can see the forest.
I hope this post opens your mind up a bit and I leave you with a question to think about:
What would you like to automate in your business today?
